The official first week sales of Joe Jonas‘ new album, Fastlife, are in and it appears fans moved anything but fast to snap up the set.
Fastlife debuts outside of the Billboard 200 albums chart’s top 10–No. 15 to be exact–with 18,000 copies sold in its first week out according to Nielsen SoundScan as reported by Billboard.com. By comparison, Joe’s little brother and bandmate Nick’s less mainstream project, Who I Am, with his band, Nick Jonas and The Administration, sold a more impressive 82,000 copies in its first week out.
Joe’s official tally is also much less than industry insiders predicted. Based on his first day sales, Hits Daily Double estimated that Jonas would come in with a still measly but much bulkier 24,000 – 27,000 copies sold.
With Joe not turning out to be competition, that left the top spot wide open for returning rockers, Evanescence. Their new self-titled album debuts at No. 1 with 127,000 units sold.
Adele‘s 21 stays put at No. 2 while last week’s No. 1, American Idol season 10 winner Scotty McCreery‘s Clear As Day, drops to No. 4.
Not far behind is Idol season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina. The country/pop cutie’s album, Wildflower, debuts at No. 5 with 69,000 copies sold.
